United Airlines reaches 61 million passengers until May, 6.8% more

United Airlines transported 60.89 million passengers from January to May, 6.8% more than in the same period of 2017, with an occupancy level of 81.5%, 0.7 percentage points more, and a 6 , 8% more cargo transport, as reported by the group in a statement.

Specifically, the main airline transported 43.5 million passengers, 4.1% more than from January to May 2017, with an occupancy factor of 82.3% (1.3 percentage points more), while regional routes increased by 8.8% to 17.3 million passengers and an occupancy of 73.1 (4.6 percentage points more).

Regarding the group’s offer, it increased by 4.3%, driven by the 6.4% increase in the seats in the regional airlines of the main brand group at the domestic level, compared to a 6.1% increase of the seats of the main company in that market.

In addition, the seats offered grew at an international level by 1.6%, highlighting the increase of 1.9% in the Pacific and 3.9% in the Atlantic, while in Latin America fell by 2.2%.

On the other hand, demand grew by 5.2% with respect to the first five months of the previous year, remaining unchanged in the main business with an increase of 1.4% at the regional level in the domestic market. In the international aspect, it increased by 4.3%, with an 11.1% rebound in the Atlantic.

7.3% MORE PASSENGERS IN MAY

In May, the group moved to a total of 13.52 million passengers (7.3% more than in the same month of 2017) and had an occupancy factor of 83.6%, 2 percentage points more.

The group increased its capacity by 4.2% in May, with an increase of 6.7% in demand. In international flights, supply grew by 1.4%, especially in the Atlantic (+ 3.2%) and 6.5% in domestic flights.

The highest occupancy in international flights was registered in Latin America, with 83.2%, 1.7 percentage points more, followed by the Atlantic, with 79.8% (7.2 percentage points more) and the Pacific, with 77, 7% (0.3 percentage points less).

For its part, the main company carried a total of 9.7 million passengers in May, 5.3% more than in 2017, with an occupancy rate of 83.9%, 1.8 percentage points higher.

In regional flights, it transported 3.81 million passengers, 12.6% more than the same month of the previous year, with an occupancy rate of 70%, 0.4 percentage points more than a year ago.
