Travelport has announced that it has been the winner of the tender process to be exclusive distributor of Air India for the domestic market, a contract that will take effect in November. The provider expects to fully implement the offer of the Indian airline at the end of 2019.
With this agreement, Air India continues to make use of the Travelport Rich Content and Branding service, already used by more than 270 airlines, which offers graphic content, tariffs and auxiliary products for the airline.
Air India, the country’s flag carrier, has a market share of 43% of the traffic to and from India of domestic airlines and 17% including global airlines.
Travelport has experienced a rapid expansion in India in recent years after acquiring the largest travel agencies, such as MakeMyTrip, Ibibo, Yatra, EaseMyTrip and ClearTrip, as well as working with the main corporate travel agencies.
In addition to the collaboration with Air India, Travelport has also expanded its presence and capabilities with leading hotel groups and aggregators in the country such as Obreroi, Taj, Treebo and Trident.
