Thomas Cook and Expedia extend their strategic alliance to nine markets

The strategic alliance between Thomas Cook and Expedia to offer getaway trips to cities in Europe, announced in September, is now available in nine markets: the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France and now in tests in Germany.

The test launch in Germany, Thomas Cook’s largest market in the urban getaways segment, will provide its customers with a wider selection of hotel options in the city.

Initially as evidence, Thomas Cook began offering a limited selection of hotel inventory to its partner agencies using the technology of Expedia Group. Last year, almost three out of four Thomas Cook reserves in Germany were made through its partner agencies.

In addition, Thomas Cook in Germany can distribute their own holiday inventory through a selection of the main travel brands of the Expedia Group.

Expedia becomes with this alliance in the main provider of hotels for the complementary business of Thomas Cook in the segment of city breaks and domestic trips, in addition to introducing the offer of accommodation for the reservation platform of the European group.

This alliance also gives Thomas Cook the option to offer vacation packages for ‘sun and beach’ destinations on Expedia websites around the world, expanding its range of distribution.
