The number of rural accommodations dedicated to tourist rental in the Andalusian community has increased by 20 percent in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year.
This has been reported by Ruralidays.com, Malaga agency specializing in holiday rentals in Andalusia, which has conducted a study, which shows that Malaga is the Andalusian province that concentrates a greater supply of this type of housing, and mainly in the municipalities of Torrox, Alozaina, Alhaurin de la Torre, Nerja and Frigiliana.
Other destinations in the region include Conil de la Frontera and El Gastor, in the province of Cádiz, and the municipalities of Órgiva and Almuñécar, in Granada.
Some of the main causes that explain the “promising” panorama that is presented to the tourist rental of rural accommodation are the future legal restrictions that are planned on holiday rentals in urban centers, as indicated in a statement sent to Europa Press.
Likewise, word of mouth also influences the owners of the rural environment and the loss of fear of renting a second residence in many cases underused or abandoned by the tenants; as well as the incorporation of foreign owners to the sector, have explained.
The increase in the offer “also translates into a considerable improvement in the benefits, since as a general rule the new accommodations that are incorporated into the market do so with a higher quality equipment”, they stated.
OPTIMISM FOR THIS SUMMER
According to the study carried out by Ruralidays.com among its customers, for the months of July and August the occupation in Andalusia is 67 percent, while in Malaga the figure rises to 75 percent.
The first half of August “is revealed as the season most demanded by customers”, standing close to 90 percent in the case of rural houses with private pools in Malaga, they indicated.
Regarding the origin of the clients, the Spanish market “experiences an increase of more than ten percent of the budget for the rental of the accommodation during their vacations”. France remains above the other European countries, because their summer school and work holidays are similar to those of Spain, they have pointed out.
The study reveals that the trend of the last two years will continue during the present, since, it is expected that the season will last until September, and it is consolidated as the fourth most demanded month of the year. In addition, the last quarter is also “promising”, because despite the anticipation with which they usually book foreign customers, during these dates highlight the last minute reservations.
The average profile of the tourists that book their holidays in Ruralidays.com is that which comes in a family of at least five members, who stays in the house 9.4 nights and comes from a big city. Likewise, its clients demand to enjoy the good climate, the rest and the privacy, without missing the occasion to visit some tourist destinations, to experience the culture and the local gastronomy.
According to the portal, “Andalusia seems to meet all these requirements, since there is an increase in repeat customer”, standing above 20 percent in the summer season. In addition, “although some municipalities are benefited by the proximity to the coast, highlights the increase of accommodation in the interior of the community,” they have indicated.
