The Norwegian Ving Group buys the hotel chain that operated with Thomas Cook firms in Spain

The hotel chain has a dozen hotels in the Canary and Balearic Islands

The Ving Group has bought the Spanish hotel company Airtours Resort Ownership Spain (AROE), including RMHI and Movables, which operates 12 hotels with more than 2,000 rooms in Mallorca, Menorca and the Canary Islands.

As detailed by the company on Thursday, the purchase of AROE – the head of Thomas Cook’s firms in Spain – includes 2,194 rooms in a total of 12 hotels, including Sunwing Alcudia and Sunprime Waterfront in Mallorca; Sunwing Fañabé Beach in Tenerife; Sunprime Atlantic View and O.B.C. in Gran Canaria.

Hotel reservations had been secured for Nordic customers by the summer of 2020 following the bankruptcy of Thomas Cook, although this purchase means that the hotels will now remain within the Ving Group in the long term.

«We are happy to have secured some of our most popular hotels for the future and, through the acquisition, we have also created new opportunities to grow with new hotels in the Mediterranean region and in the Canary Islands,» said the CEO of the Group Ving, Magnus Wikner.
