The Portuguese hotel chain Pestana Hotel Group, in which Cristiano Ronaldo participates, announced on Tuesday that he will invest 200 million euros in the next five years to open 20 new hotels.
The forecasts of the chain of the businessman Dionisio Pestana go through the opening of ten establishments in the next 18 months, which would be added another ten hotels in the next three years.
The chain will focus its activity in Portugal, with an investment of 44 million euros, destined to the recovery of heritage and adaptation of buildings, and the opening of five new establishments, two hotels in Lisbon and another three in Oporto.
“The international expansion continues to be very intense, but the truth is that we have today in Portugal our best investment cases”, said the head of Development and Expansion of the Group, José Roquette.
At the international level, the group’s expansion strategy also foresees new openings in Paris, New York and Marrakech, which will be added to the projects currently underway in Amsterdam and Madrid, with the Pestana Plaza Mayor.
Thus, in 2013 it will open a new establishment in Paris, the sixth of the Pestaña CR7 brand, a four-star hotel with 210 rooms and that will represent an investment of 60 million euros.
In Madrid, the chain will open the Pestana Plaza Mayor, whose inauguration was scheduled for the end of this year, although the chain has not provided an opening date.
“In the next five years, we will undoubtedly strengthen the image of the Pestana brand as one of the international chains in the main world markets, without neglecting the leadership in Portugal,” Roquette said at a press conference.
