The effect of the coronavirus will extend in Spanish tourism until the summer, according to Natixis

The Spanish tourism sector will be affected by the coronavirus this summer as a consequence of the spread of contagions over time and the closure of the borders, which will be a coordinated process between countries that «will not occur soon,» according to the analyst at Natixis Philippe Waechter.

Therefore, tourism will be «a source of weakness» for the Spanish economy this summer. The analyst also points out that the restrictions could be relaxed for national tourism, but not for the rest of European tourists.

As for the services sector as a whole, he stresses that it will recover «in a long time» since it is «strongly weakened». Also, taking into account the examples of Austria and Italy, tourism would be the last sector to emerge from the crisis.
