The company Crystal Cruises chooses Malaga for the first time as a base port

The US company Crystal Cruises, dedicated to the luxury cruise sector, has chosen Málaga, for the first time, to carry out a single itinerary departing from the port area.

The exclusive cruise ship ‘Crystal Esprit’ arrived this past Saturday and at 22:00 on Sunday it left for Almeria, starting a seven-day route that includes Spanish ports of the Western Mediterranean to Barcelona, its final destination.

This ship also visits the Port of Malaga for the first time, so that its captain held a reception on board to host the traditional exchange of commemorative plaques, with the participation of the Port Authority, the Tourism Area of the City Council of the capital, Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol and Malaga Cruise Port. The ship is consigned by the consignee company Pérez y Cía.

The ‘Crystal Esprit’ has 82.2 meters in length and a maximum capacity for 72 passengers, making the sailing experience more authentic, with the luxuries of an exclusive yacht type boat.

The ship has a small submarine so that passengers can explore the coasts of the destinations they visit, which is very well received by passengers.

For its part, the company expects a total of four scales in the current year. More specifically, it will be the ‘Crystal Serenity’ which will hold stops in June and November 2019.

Málagaport said in a statement that luxury and premium tourism continues to grow in the Port of Malaga. The proximity of the cruise terminal to the historic center of the capital, as well as the services offered and the wide variety of excursions proposed by the destination, are highly appreciated by this type of passengers.

In 2019, half of the stopovers made in Malaga will correspond to these exclusive vessels, whose passengers will account for around 30% of the cruise passengers arriving in port this year.
