The campaign of La Gomera as a nature destination exceeds 800,000 reproductions in networks

The Cabildo de La Gomera has presented the data of the promotion campaign of the island as a nature tourism destination launched in the main European countries during the last nine months and that has generated more than 800,000 reproductions of the audiovisual content published in the social networks. This announcement coincides with the anticipated occupation advance for this month of August, which reaches 90%.

The president of Mexico, Casimiro Curbelo, indicated that good tourist occupation data will be associated with an increase in economic activities in all productive sectors and will facilitate the creation of employment, mainly in the hotel and restaurant industry, where a 9 , 8% the hiring in the last year, “a fact that reinforces the bet of the insular institution for the professionalization and qualification of the personnel related to this sector on the island”.

Curbelo insisted that the consolidation of La Gomera as a reference destination is the result of the “successful strategy designed by the Council of Tourism of the Cabildo to strengthen promotional campaigns in European destinations and promote the excellence of the destination through training.” He referred to the development of the language training program, which benefited more than a hundred people, along with the plan for improving cuisine that runs on the island.

Regarding the results of the ornithological tourism promotion campaign, the Minister of Tourism, María Isabel Méndez, explained that of the 800,000 reproductions, 40% were made from the United Kingdom, 20% from Germany and 10.5% from France. In addition, the video dedicated to bird watching in La Gomera was the most watched with 143,000 reproductions.

Access to the Tourism website has also increased in the last eight months, reaching nearly 400,000 visits during the campaign period. Similar data reached in the YouTube channel, where the 578,000 reproductions have been exceeded, so in the words of Méndez “this promotional action has met the objectives set, thanks to good planning and segmentation of each publication.”

Finally, the owner of Tourism encouraged visitors who come to La Gomera this summer to participate in the first tourist photography contest organized by the Cabildo in order to select the best snapshots of the island.
