AmaWaterways, the market leader in luxury river cruises, has shown the first images of its new and revolutionary ship, AmaMagna, on its maiden voyage from Vilshofen; Germany to Budapest; Hungary, last May 5th.
The AmaMagna exceeded guest expectations on the day of boarding with the highest level of luxury and more space than any river cruise. The first photos of AmaMagna’s public spaces show the impressive design and elegant decoration of a multi-level lounge and the main restaurant, which has floor-to-ceiling windows.
They also provide the first images of the new restaurants: Al Fresco and Jimmy, the last of which is named after the late Jimmy Murphy, one of the founders of AmaWaterways.
In an exclusive welcome event at the Oktoberfest in Vilshofen, Captain Jan de Bruijn welcomed the first guests of the AmaMagna, many of whom were loyal AmaWaterways customers, eager to be among the first to experience a cruise in new family member.

The AmaMagna is twice the width of traditional river cruises, but receives only 20% more passengers, allowing more space per passenger. More than half of the 98 cabins designated as suites measure between 33 and 66 square meters. All cabins and suites are designed with an elegant decoration with natural wood details and private balconies with large floor to ceiling windows. The suites have exterior balconies, open living areas and luxurious bathrooms complete with double sinks and showers. Six large suites (44 square meters) and an Owner Suite (66 square meters) provide even more amenities with separate living areas and spacious bathrooms with spa-type baths.
The ship also offers improved entertainment options, with a cinema on board, a large boutique; an extensive Zen Wellness Studio complete with a wide area of exercises that offers classes focused on stretching, cardio and spinning classes led by a professional Wellness Host, a juice bar and two massage rooms, along with services of manicure, pedicure and Hairdresser and a terrace for sunbathing with a large heated pool, a relaxing Jacuzzi and a bar. All terrace facilities can be easily accessed through an innovative pop-up lift for all four decks.
Guests can take advantage of the Concierge Golf Program, which offers the opportunity to experience the game’s four top-level golf courses in Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany while enjoying the magic of the cruise. The itineraries of the AmaMagna, which operates from May to December on a cruise of 7 and 10 nights, include the Romantic Danube, Melodies of the Danube and the Christmas markets on the Danube.
The AmaMagna will be officially baptized by her godmother, the respected travel expert and Emmy Award-winning television presenter, Samantha Brown, during a July 11 baptism ceremony in Grein, Austria.
Prices range from € 1,899 per person for a seven-night cruise on the Danube from Vilshofen to Budapest in a category E stateroom, visiting ports such as Vienna, Linz or Passau.
