Turismo del Ayuntamiento de Madrid has just published in collaboration with the children’s entertainment brand Nickelodeon ‘SpongeBob. Adventures in Madrid ‘, a new family tourism guide for the city.
The illustration publication starring SpongeBob and his friends from Bikini Bottom (Patricio, Arenita, Squidward, Gary or Mr. Cangrejo, among others), shows the youngest the main monuments and places of interest in the city of Madrid, its gastronomy and its cultural and leisure offer.
It aims to “reinforce the image of the city of Madrid as a reference destination for family tourism and encourage visits to the city by families interested in enjoying a wide and diverse range of leisure and entertainment such as Madrid offers” , has explained the City Council in a statement.
“The guide facilitates your stay in the capital, proposing plans and activities of all kinds, fostering the knowledge of Madrid among children in a fun and entertaining way with SpongeBob and his friends,” he said.
Among the cultural and leisure proposals that the character discovers are the museums of the Art Walk, the changing of the guard of the Royal Palace, the Madrid River beach, the Madrid City Tour panoramic bus, the museum workshops, the musical shows , theater and circus, or the Zoo Aquarium and the Amusement Park of Madrid, where the little ones can find the Nickelodeon Land family zone.
This thematic space has attractions, shows and the presence of iconic Nickelodeon characters such as ‘The Patrol Dog’, ‘SpongeBob’, ‘The Ninja Turtles’ or ‘Dora the Explorer’.
In terms of gastronomy, the guide proposes everything from the starry eggs of Casa Lucio, the omelet of La Ardosa or croquettes from Casa Labra, to chocolate with churros from San Ginés or violet caramels from La Violeta.
Also, ‘SpongeBob. Adventures in Madrid ‘puts in value the natural heritage that can be enjoyed in Madrid, the European city with more trees, which has large green spaces such as Casa de Campo, El Retiro, El Capricho or Quinta de los Molinos.
Also present in the guide is one of the most popular sports among the youngest, football, through the main teams of the city, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid; its stadiums, the Santiago Bernabéu and the Metropolitan Wanda; and the sources where they celebrate their titles: Cybele and Neptune.
The guide is completed with hobbies that will allow children to color the most famous painting in Madrid, make a fun alphabet soup, find “hidden treasures” of Madrid or draw their own experience in the city.
Tourism of the Madrid City Council will distribute more than 50,000 copies of the guide (in Spanish) in the center and tourist information points managed by Tourism of the City Council. The publication is also available, in Spanish and English, for consultation and download in the official tourism portal of the city of Madrid.
