Southwest Airlines earns 5.6% less for the 737 MAX blockade

Soutwest Airlines earned $ 1,128 million (1,013 million euros) in the first half, 5.6% less than in the same period of 2018 as a result of the ineffectiveness of the 737 MAX in its fleet, the company said .

From January to June, the company invoiced 11,059 million dollars (9,938 million euros), 3.5% more, and had expenses 5.4% higher, of 9,586 million dollars (8,614 million euros).

Its operating profit stood at 1,473 million dollars (1,323 million euros) in the first six months of the year, 7.2% less than in the same period of the previous year.

In the second quarter, Soutwest Airlines earned 741 million dollars (665.9 million euros), up 1.1%. Revenues reached 5,909 million dollars (5,310 million euros), which is 2.9% more, while expenses increased 3.6%, to 4,941 million dollars (4,440 million euros).
