Silversea announces its Antarctic season


Before starting the season in Antarctica, 12 members of the Silversea Expedition Team spent four days in a pre-season stage in the Chilean Andes. Between October 29 and November 3, the team of specialists in expeditions carried out a series of educational activities, to expand their skills thus allowing enrich the offer for Silversea guests. In its tenth season of trips to Antarctica, Silversea is investing heavily in the training and development of its team of expedition experts.
The camp that lasted four days and three nights, located near the impressive El Morado Natural Monument in Chile, was the place where courses based on skills and leadership development were held. In addition to a challenging ropes use class, snow and ice awareness workshops, orientation sessions, a first aid review and a staging to practice emergency evacuations, as well as several activities aimed at team building .

After completing this extensive and complex program of activities, team members set out to welcome the guests of Silversea Expeditions. Eight of the 12 expedition specialists who participated in the training, embarked on the Silver Explorer to participate in this season in Antarctica.

• 1925 – Buenos Aires to Ushuaia.

The Silver Cloud will begin the Antarctic season in 2019, and depart from the vibrant city of Buenos Aires towards Ushuaia on November 24. After a day of navigation, guests will arrive at West Point Island, from where they will travel to Saunders Island, Stanley, Elephant Island, the Antarctic Strait, the Antarctic Peninsula, the South Shetland Islands and the Drake Passage. Incorporating enriching experiences in the Antarctic Peninsula, the Falkland Islands and southern Georgia, this extraordinary itinerary promises an unforgettable expedition. On board the intimate Silver Explorer, guests will cross the legendary Drake Passage to explore the Antarctic Peninsula in this classic 12-day round trip from Ushuaia.
