Meliá Hotels International has participated once again in the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, highlighting the relevance of the British market for the group with the announcement of the opening of its third hotel in London, as well as its third hotel in Tanzania .
The hotel in London (former Rydges Kensington London) will be operated since December under the name of ‘London Kensington Hotel managed by Meliá Hotels International’, and in the first quarter of 2019 will undergo a reform to adapt to the standards of the Meliá brand Hotels & Resorts, later to be called ‘Meliá London Kensignton’.
Together with ‘ME London’ and the ‘Meliá White House’, the new hotel will add another 81 rooms to the company’s offer in the city, located in the Kensington district, west of London, two minutes from the station. Gloucester Road subway, with numerous commercial, leisure and cultural offer.
Among the main attractions of the area are the Kensington Palace, Holland Park, the Albert Memorial, the Royal Albert Hall or the Imperial College. In addition, the southern area of the district gathers important museums, such as the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
The hotel, very close to Cromwell Road, also has a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and a wellness area. The planned reform aims to transform the lobby to create in it a space for restoration, inspired by Spanish cuisine, which improves the gastronomic experience. It is also planned to improve the spaces for events and meetings.
THIRD HOTEL IN TANZANIA
The company has also announced the signing of its third hotel in Tanzania, where it already operates the ‘Meliá Zanzíbar’ and the ‘Meliá Serengeti Lodge’.
The hotel is located in Arusha, a city close to Kilimanjaro International Airport and, therefore, the main starting point for all the routes that leave for the national parks of the north of the country, such as the Serengeti National Park, the conservation area of Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara National Park, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro and Arusha National Park, on Mount Meru.
‘Meliá Arusha’, whose opening is scheduled for April 2019, will be a 5-star luxury holiday resort built next to a traditional coffee plantation, perfectly integrated into the landscape.
It will offer 171 rooms, swimming pool, different dining spaces (including a rooftop restaurant), spa, gym and almost 2,000 square meters of facilities for events and meetings (including a banquet room). ‘Meliá Arusha’ will come to join the portfolio of hotels located in high value natural environments such as ‘Meliá Serengeti’, ‘Meliá Iguazú’ or ‘Meliá Ba Vi Mountain Retreat’, among others.
The incorporation of these two hotels in London and Arusha reinforces the collaboration of Meliá with Albwardy Investment, owner of both properties and a key partner of the hotel company in its international expansion. Thanks to the excellent relationship between both groups, Meliá also operates other establishments in the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania and Argentina.
