Marrakech will host the UNWTO meeting in 2021

Morocco has won the vote to host the 24th edition of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization, which will take place in Marrakech in 2021.

The country had presented a candidacy that emphasized its commitment to accessibility and sustainability with tourism as an engine of employment and economic growth.

The secretary general of the World Tourism Organization Zurab Pololikashvili, has indicated that Morocco has “clearly” demonstrated how it has turned tourism into an engine of positive change in recent decades and that it has the necessary infrastructure and commitment to host this event.

For his part, the director of the Tourist Office of Morocco, Mohamed Sofi, stressed that Morocco is the “ideal” destination to organize both events and international summits and congresses and has indicated that Marrakech is a city “that has everything assimilated “, highlighting the climate, infrastructure and proximity to the great European capitals.
