Leonardo Hotels Central Europe announces its 2018 activity results

The hotel group recorded a significant increase in revenue and customer volume last year.

Leonardo Hotels Central Europe has reported significant growth of its business in 2018, both in total number of guests and in volume of sales and income per available room (RevPar). In addition, the hotel group added nine hotels to its portfolio last year, representing 1,342 new rooms.

Nearly 4.6 million customers stayed at one of the Leonardo Hotels Central Europe establishments last year, spread across the German, Austrian, Swiss, Hungarian, Czech, Polish, Italian and Spanish markets. This figure represents an increase of 9.7% compared to 2017. Sales volume increased by 12.5% ​​in 2018, which represented a total of 364 million euros, while revenues per available room (RevPar) grew by 3.8%, a percentage that translated into 76.07 euros. The company also invested a total of 30 million euros in quality of maintenance and renovation of its properties.

Germany remains the main market

Currently, the chain’s portfolio in Germany has 51 stores. In 2018, the number of guests rose by 7.1%, with a total of 3.6 million reservations, while sales reached 302 million euros, representing a growth of 10.1%.

Nine new hotels opened in 2018

As a result of its ambitious expansion plans, Leonardo Hotels strengthened its presence in Europe with eight new establishments in Germany and one in Spain. Throughout 2018, the company acquired Best Western Savoy Hotel Düsseldorf (January), which was launched as Leonardo Boutique Hotel Düsseldorf in May 2018, and the Wyndham Mannheim (August), which reopened in February 2019 under the name from NYX Hotel Mannheim after a comprehensive reform process. The list is completed by NYX Hotel Madrid (April), Leonardo Royal Hotel Ulm (May), Leonardo Hotel Bad Kreuznach (June) and NYX Hotel Munich (July).

Likewise, Leonardo Hotel Düsseldorf Airport-Ratingen and Leonardo Hotel Frankfurt City South, which were previously part of Holiday Inn, opened under the Leonardo brand in April. Finally, Leonardo Boutique Hotel Berlin City South was opened in August.

Expansion plans with a view to 2021: eight new establishments in Germany and one in Spain, Poland, Italy and Switzerland

In what we have been doing in 2019, the hotel chain continues to show great international dynamism. During the first half of the year, Leonardo Hotels Central Europe has opened three new hotels: NYX Hotel Mannheim in February; NYX Hotel Bilbao in April and Leonardo Royal Hotel Venice Mestre in June. By 2020 and 2021, the company plans to open stores in Augsburg, Dortmund, Eschborn, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Offenbach, Warsaw and Zurich.
