Kiwi.com, a leading company in travel technology and a pioneer in the application of technological solutions to the travel sector, has announced a collaboration with Lyon Airport to make it the first optimized air-to-air airport in the world. The main objective has been to achieve the optimization of the «minimum connection time» of Kiwi.com, which make up the land transport networks with those of air transport to offer unimpeded travel between various means. Thanks to the collaboration with the Lyon Airport, during the last 6 months it has been possible to incorporate a total land transport network that connects the airport. So Kiwi.com can increase the catchment area of the second regional airport in France to increase customer satisfaction and offer new connections at better prices. Until now, passengers could buy a combined bus / train and plane ticket with a guarantee for the entire trip in a single reservation. All accesses by land to the airport are available: Ouibus, Flixbus, Ouigo, TGV high speed train and Rhônexpress.
Lyon Airport has been selected by Kiwi for its ability to integrate new services and the exceptional connectivity that the Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport has with its catchment area since it is only 30 minutes from the center of the city of Lyon thanks to Rhônexpress. In addition, it is the only airport in France outside Paris with a high-speed train station 5 minutes walk from the terminals, connected to 29 cities in Italy and France thanks to Ouigo and SNCF TGV. Finally, there are 22 cities in the Lyon catchment area that have direct bus services from / to the airport thanks to Ouibus and Flixbus.
Lyon-Saint Exupéry will be the first airport to use the application programming interface (API) with a minimum connection time of only Kiwi.com to optimize road, rail and air connections, completely covering the region of the second city more France, which can be booked through Kiwi.com.
