The English airline Jet2 has opened a base at the Tenerife South Airport to support its growth in the Canary Islands during this winter season. The main British operator on the islands has added more than 200,000 seats from the United Kingdom to the archipelago, in response to a sharp increase in demand to Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.
To support this expansion, the airline has opened a base at Tenerife South Airport, thus being able to have a spare plane and crew members in stand-by and thus ensuring that it can maintain its customer service.
As commented by Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays: «We are the main tour operator from the United Kingdom to the Canary Islands and we continue to show our confidence and commitment to the region by adding more flights and vacation packages. The opening of this base is another proof of the strength of our relationship with the archipelago and will allow us to maintain the excellence of our service even after the overwhelming increase in places for this winter. »
Pedro Martín, president of the Cabildo, added that they are «delighted» with this news. «Both the opening of the base and the increase in the offer of seats show us Jet2.com’s commitment to the island and confirm that Tenerife remains one of the most beloved destinations for the British,» he said.
