International hotel chains process up to 6 million invoices per year

International hotel chains can process between 3 and 6 million bills per year, while a travel agency or tour operator would exceed one million bills per year and an international bed bank can process more than 10 million bills per year, according to data from baVel, electronic billing and payment platform of Voxel Group.

The electronic invoice is booming in the tourism sector and this is a highly transactional sector, which means that, due to the nature of its business, it generates millions of invoices and transactions at the end of the year.

In the B2B environment (sale between companies) the electronic invoice is not mandatory, but a booming alternative. And, according to the Association of European Electronic Billing Service Providers (EESPA for its acronym in English) the use of electronic invoicing increased by 23% in 2017, which meant up to 1.9 billion e-invoices more respect to 2016. In fact, in Italy it is already mandatory to use the electronic invoice both B2G and B2B.

Precisely, to improve the flow of B2B payments in the tourism environment, Voxel Group is leading the Open Payment Alliance (OPA) initiative within HEDNA, a project that aims to decouple the payment channel from the reservation, optimizing it to allow the choice of type of transaction, the payment provider, and even the management of the exchange rate, in addition to the industry’s own variables (time of payment, rate, etc.).

Voxel Group will participate in the FVW Kongress, the event dedicated to the tourism industry and mobility, which will be held on September 17 and 18 in Köln. This year, Voxel Group will have a stand dedicated to electronic invoicing and B2B payments in the tourism sector where it will receive managers of the sector in the German market.
