IAG transported more than 90.4 million passengers in the first nine months of the year, representing an increase of 4.9% over the same period last year, as reported by the ‘holding’ on Monday.
The airline group, which includes Iberia, British Airways (BA), Vueling, Aer Lingus and Level, increased its capacity by 4.7%, while demand increased by 5.6%. The occupancy factor was 84.7%, 0.8 percentage points higher. Cargo traffic decreased by 1%.
In September, the group transported 10.6 million passengers (+ 0.6%), with a 0.8% increase in demand and equal capacity. The occupancy factor was 85.3%, 0.7 percentage points higher, while cargo traffic fell 9.1%.
IBERIA, WHICH MOST INCREASES ITS DEMAND
Until September, Iberia transported 16.9 million passengers, 7.3% more than in the same period of the previous year, with a 10.6% increase in demand and 8.8% in supply. The occupation factor grew 1.4 percentage points, to 87.4%, while the load increased 5.5%. In the month, the airline transported more than 2 million passengers (+ 7.1%).
For its part, BA transported 36.1 million passengers (+ 1.2%) in these nine months, increasing its capacity by 1% and its traffic by 1.9%, with an occupancy rate of 83.5% , 0.7 percentage points higher. Cargo traffic was reduced by 0.3%, to 3.1 tons. However, the number of passengers transported fell 8.1% in September, to 3.8 million, while demand decreased by 6.4% and capacity 5.8%.
Aer Lingus transported 3% more passengers until September to more than 9 million. The airline increased its offer by 5.4%, while demand increased by 5.5%. The occupancy factor reached 82.3% with an increase of 0.1 percentage points. During the ninth month, more than one million passengers flew with the airline, an increase of 0.7%.
Vueling transported more than 27 million passengers in this period, 6.2% more than a year earlier, with 3.7% more supply and 4.8% more demand. Its occupancy factor grew 0.9 percentage points, to 87.3%. In the month, the airline transported 3.5 million passengers (+ 7.5%).
Finally, Level transported 1.3 million passengers in the period, more than double, with a 120.7% increase in supply and 109.3% in demand. The occupancy factor fell 4.6 percentage points to 83.5%.
20.1% PASSENGERS GROW IN LATIONOAMÉRICA
By markets, IAG transported 21.4 million passengers in its domestic business (which includes the United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland and Italy) until September, 6.5% more than in the same period last year, and increased by 7 , 1% your offer. Demand grew by 10% and the occupancy rate reached 87.8% with an increase of 2.4 percentage points.
In the rest of the European routes, the group transferred 48.3 million passengers (+ 3.1%) and increased its offer by 2.8%. Demand grew 2.3% and the occupancy factor fell 0.4 percentage points to 83.8%.
The Latin American region registered the largest increase in the number of passengers during these nine months, with a total of 4.7 million passengers (+ 20.1%). Demand in this market increased by 16.5% and the group’s capacity was 15.3% higher. The occupancy factor in Latin America was 86.6% (+ 0.9 points).
The routes with North America registered an increase of 4.1% in the number of passengers, up to 9.5 million, with 3.3% more demand and 1.5% more capacity. The occupation factor grew 1.4 percentage points, up to 84%.
In the regions of Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, the group transported 4.5 million passengers (+ 2.7%) in the first nine months, with 2.2% more demand 1.4% more capacity The occupation factor was 83.1%, 0.6 percentage points more.
In Asia Pacific, the number of passengers grew 9.3%, to 1.8 million, with a 4.4% increase in supply and 4.8% in demand. The occupation factor increased 0.32 percentage points to 85.6%.
