Hotels Bestprice will invest 7.5 million in the hotels that will open in Madrid and Girona

He hopes to enter the MAB in the first quarter of 2019

Hoteles Bestprice will invest 7.5 million euros in its next hotels in Madrid and Girona, with five million for the establishment it will build in the Spanish capital and 2.5 million for Girona, whose opening is scheduled for the end of 2019.

In a Europa Press interview, the president of the company, Óscar Sánchez, explained that they are preparing new projects in several Spanish cities and that they hope to enter the Alternative Stock Market (MAB) in the first quarter of next year.

Sanchez has argued that they are already negotiating the entry of between 15 and 20 investors and a capital of two million euros: “The perspective is to grow and be the benchmark of the real economy, entrepreneurs and startups.”

He believes that entering the MAB is an inexorable step on his way to the company they want to build: “If you want to have 200 employees, in most cases you need to resort to the financial market to bet on you. the MAB. ”

MORE HOTELS IN MADRID AND BARCELONA

In parallel, the company, which has a hotel in the Gracia district and another on Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona, plans to build its fifth and sixth hotel in the Catalan capital – with an investment of five million – and Madrid, respectively .

Also, Sanchez has said they are also considering building new hotels in other Spanish cities, such as Valencia and Seville, which could open their doors after 2020.

He assured that they want to grow the number of rooms in Barcelona if they “leave” because, he has argued, the regulations of the Special Urban Plan for Tourist Accommodation (Peuat) favors more large companies.

IN THE CATALAN CAPITAL, WE HAVE A PEUAT

He is a supporter of policies such as the Peuat to limit the proliferation of hotels in the city, but not its final draft because he believes that you do not think of small business.

“Only large groups can open a hotel because they can afford an entire building, you have to go outside the center and with large real estate operations because you have to have a whole plot,” he said.

Sanchez explained that the Peuat paralyzed two hotels, one located in front of the Hospital de Sant Pau and another in Poblenou: “We promoted them in 2015, but it was when the Peuat moratorium was approved, and with it we did not have time to put the papers inside the City Hall and we lost a lot of money “.

RECORD YEAR

Sánchez hopes to close the year of 2018 with a growth of 10%: “In 2017 at the billing level we achieved the record, everyone thought it would be the best of the years possible, and in this 2018 we have passed that best year of all. the industry, which was 2017, for which we are very happy “.

In addition, he explained that the occupation in 2018 has hovered around the same values as last year, when they were already full: “We are very happy with our occupancy levels and with our RevPar”, he added, on the index that assesses financial performance of a tourist establishment.

“Possibly we have the best –RevPar– that there are for establishments of one to three stars, very close to the four-star hotels, because of this we believe that we lack rooms,” said Sánchez.

POLITICAL STABILITY

To strengthen these results, Sanchez believes that it is necessary to normalize the political situation because this affects the tourism sector: “Spaniards come less to Barcelona, that is a reality.”

“The only thing we ask is that political things should not affect in principle to social normality,” he added, since it does not help Barcelona, which in his opinion has a good opportunity to be one of the most important cities in Europe.

“We have to be able not to kill the prestige and remember the little dreamers, the entrepreneurs,” he concluded.
