Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic), have signed a collaboration to develop wellness services aimed at improving the traveler’s experience and especially reducing jet lag. As a result of the agreement, Etihad will be the first airline to use Panasonic’s new welfare proposal, the Jet Lag Adviser. This service has been developed in conjunction with Detalytics and will be included in the airline application.
One of the great challenges that passengers face when traveling through different time zones is jet lag. To help travelers combat it, the Jet Lag Adviser collects passenger data that includes chronotypes, circadian rhythms, height, weight, origin of the trip, flight schedules, routes and zones. Subsequently, it uses its artificial intelligence mechanism to create jet lag plans and personalized notices in order to help passengers and reduce it.
Thanks to this collaboration, passengers will receive, on the one hand, the generic impacts of jet lag based on different routes, which gives them a summary of the type that can be given on that route in general and their own trip specifically, while the Customized plan of jet lag incorporates the previous plan, this is in the phases before the flight, flight and after the flight. It also provides a calendar of different recommendations and tips for specific moments in each phase on what to do to reduce jet lag, how to sleep, level of exposure to light, exercise, hydration and the type of food to consume.
Throughout each phase of the trip, Jet Lag Adviser will send reminders with suggestions to passengers through the application. By following the recommendations, the Jet Lag consultant will help passengers feel more energetic and ready for their destination activities.
