Ethiopian Airlines recognizes similarities between the two catastrophes of the 737 MAX 8 in Ethiopia and Indonesia

The CEO of the airline Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam, has acknowledged that there are many similarities in the circumstances of the incident last Sunday in the African country with the one in Indonesia with the same plane model, the 737 MAX 8, in Indonesia the last year.

Gebremariam has warned in any case that the final results of the incident “will take some days”, given that the two black boxes – of flight and voice – are under examination in France.

“We have sent a delegation of six people to France and are now working on it,” added the CEO in relation to the investigation of the incident, which killed all 157 occupants of the flight.

The accident has led dozens of countries and airlines around the world to suspend flights of this model of Boeing aircraft, previously injured in October 2018 in Indonesia, causing the death of 189 people on the JT610 flight of Lion Air.

The CEO recognized that the circumstances were very similar to the loss of Lion Air. “It’s a very difficult situation, it looks like Lion Air, because it only lasted six minutes, a very, very short time, there is a clear resemblance between our sinister and the other,” he added at a press conference held by the Chinese official news agency ‘Xinhua’.
