The Booking platform has announced that it has reached five million tourist homes in its network worldwide, including houses, apartments and other types of accommodation dedicated to tourist use.
Booking ensures that this type of accommodation is the one that is growing the most. In 2017, the supply of tourist housing grew by 27% compared to the previous year. Although Booking has not provided data with respect to the rest of the tourist offer, it has assured that this growth is greater than that experienced by traditional accommodations, such as hotels, motels or resorts.
This growth, for the company, is a response to the demand that is on the part of the travelers. A study carried out by Booking in 2017 indicated that 30% of its users had preference to stay in an apartment during their vacations. And, in addition, one in five respondents was willing to advertise their own home.
According to the company’s own data, the tourist homes already represent 18.5% of the total number of accommodation advertised in Booking, which is 27 million globally.
