Barcelona will receive the new year with a multimedia assembly on Maria Cristina Avenue, run by the French company Groupe F, an expert in outdoor large-scale shows, the City Council informed on Wednesday in a statement.
The start of the central show will take place at 11.40 pm, but from 9.30 pm, as in previous years, the public that approaches the Maria Cristina Avenue will also be able to see live a choreographic show of lights, colors and music from the magic fountains of Montjuïc.
The farewell show of 2018 this year has been created by the French company Groupe F, with Christophe Berthonneau as artistic director, and with original music by the sound creator Scott Gibbons.
It is a multimedia montage created expressly for this occasion that starts from the tradition of eating the 12 grapes to celebrate the start of the new year.
The show, lasting 24 minutes, combines the performance of four actors in suspension with elements such as fire, light, pyrotechnic effects and video projections.
Starting from the numerical game with the number 12, the show will start evoking 12 months of the year that we bid farewell making a trip through the various places of the world where it has already arrived in 2019.
The 12 chimes will continue, where all the scenic elements will appear on stage, and the 12 wishes for the new year – one for each month of the year – that will refer to different landscapes to evoke the places that last over time.
