Atlantia withdraws from the Alitalia rescue consortium in the absence of partners

The construction company Atlantia has decided to withdraw from the consortium to rescue Alitalia because the strategic partner necessary to proceed with the acquisition of the airline has not been found, as the company announced in a statement.

«As things stand, the conditions necessary for Atlantia to be part of a consortium that proposes an offer for Alitalia do not yet exist,» said the firm.

However, the company controlled by the Benetton family has left the door open to re-enter the rescue process.

«Atlantia remains willing to participate in the process of identifying an industrial partner and reaching an agreement to create a solid and long-term business plan for Alitalia’s change of direction,» he said.

On October 15, the concessionaire already warned that its participation in the consortium, together with Ferrovie dello Stato, the Italian Ministry of Economy and the airline Delta Air Lines depended on finding a partner that assumed the leading role of management and execution of the plan.
