American Airlines suspends its flights to Venezuela indefinitely

The airline American Airlines has suspended its flights to Venezuela indefinitely, weeks after doing so on a temporary basis after its union of pilots asked their workers to refuse to fly as a result of a travel alert from the US government.

The company will continue to work with team members, union leaders and other key players to restore service when conditions are right, a spokeswoman for the company told the Reuters news agency.

Several airlines have suspended their flights to the South American country for security reasons and disputes over the money they claim the President’s Government, Nicolás Maduro, owes them.
