86% of travelers intend to travel more this year, according to Skyscanner

86% of Spanish travelers say they intend to travel more during this year, according to the Skyscanner travel search engine, which ensures that during the first month of the year flight searches to travel throughout the year also take advantage of a descent of post holiday prices.

The price remains the main incentive to choose a destination. Thus, while 28% of respondents consider tourism interest the main reason why they choose where to travel, 51% recognize that the price is what weighs most in their choice.

According to data from Skyscanner collected over the last three years, the cities of Oakland, Luxembourg, Verona, Toulouse, Bordeaux and Santander have increased the interest of travelers in recent years, in addition to offering discounts of up to 43%.

The Californian city located in the eastern part of San Francisco Bay, Oakland, is the destination with the greatest increase in demand, multiplying by six the number of searches made compared to 2016. The average price of a flight to this destination American is 473 euros, which is a decrease of 23% compared to previous years.

The European city that has seen the lowest price in this period is Luxembourg, with an average ticket price of 116 euros, 43% less, and interest multiplied by three compared to 2016.

It is followed by the Italian city of Verona, with an average price of 126 euros, a discount of 23% and an increase of searches of 190%; Toulouse also has an interest that exceeds 185%, with a price
average flight of 86 euros, 28% less than three years ago; and Bordeaux, which doubles (+ 103%) interest and reduces the price of the flight by 21%, with an average price of 106 euros.

The list shows only one Spanish destination: Santander, a city in which flights have lowered their prices in recent years by 26%, with bills of 100 euros on average, and an increase in demand of 125%.

In 2018, many new routes have been opened to unite travelers from all over the world and these six desired destinations. The Prat airport in Barcelona has connected with Oakland and Luxembourg, while the Santa Cruz de Tenerife airport has created new itineraries with the city
Verona, as well as Toulouse and Santander. For its part, Palma de Mallorca, for its part, has connected with Bordeaux.
